I am giving up sugar. It starts tomorrow! AAAAHHH. I am going to keep my coffee, because you don't want to mess with my coffee! But here is my plan so far:
breakfasts:
eggs, bacon, coffee,
egg, potato, green pepper, red pepper, onion casserole.
OR
(INSERT GASP) No breakfast. I know they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but for me it is easier for me to skip breakfast and push out eating until lunch, I have more will power and motivation in the morning. It works for me.. but I know it doesn't for a lot of people.
Lunches:
salad- I am planning on lots of salads, making them REALLY well and elaborate- that is key to me.
chicken & green beans
Dinner:
Steak & Veggie
Chicken & veggie
Taco salad
I am hoping to add on and expand my meal plans as time goes on, but I think this meal plan will get me through the first week.
WISH ME LUCK! I will keep yo updated.. Hopefully it will all be fabulous updates!! :) And I REALLY hope I can stick with it! I can do it... I can do it... I can do it... I WILL do it!

What do I want to accomplish?
Today was the second day I went to the gym. I am two for two! Woot woot! It was the first time I dropped Adeline off at the gym's daycare they told me "she did good, for it being her first time." She is a mama's girl. :)
The first day I worked out at the gym I was really insecure, felt like I didn't belong, I was afraid to work up too much of a sweat afraid my fat would jiggle too much, afraid people would judge me.
Today was much better. I went in, was a lot more confident. It was forced confidence but confidence non the less. I hopped on the treadmill, warmed up, ran a pathetic amount, walked and then moved on to the weight machines.
I can't wait until I can see a difference! I feel like my day is a little longer now since going to the gym (I know.. its only been two days! haha)
I am going to make this a habit. I am going to make this our ritual. This is a lifestyle change. (note to self: repeat until you believe)
What do I want to accomplish by going to the gym?
1. Most importantly, self confidence. My self confidence has never been so low. And I want it back. I can't stand how insecure I am!! If someone looks at me I want to melt into the wall! And that is not who I am. I love to laugh, I love to have fun! I used to enjoy being the center of attention. Now all I think is "oh I bet they think she has gotten so fat." I want to be comfortable in my own skin and be confident again.
2. Get to wedding weight!
3. Get fit & healthy
4. Get alone time. I feel that ever since I had Adeline I lost myself in motherhood. I never looked in the mirror. I never took more than 3 seconds to put an outfit together. I don't really ever go anywhere without Adeline. So I think going to the gym working on myself and getting alone time will be great for me! :)

Skinny here I come.. I think.
I joined a gym today! AHHH!!
Jordan and I sat down and discussed the possibility of me joining a gym (my prompting) a few days ago. It is a huge financial commitment for us. This decision was not taken lightly by either of us. Jordan and I are very conscious of every penny we spend, and where we put it. So we discussed what my goals are in going to the gym, and then decided I needed a plan.
I am scared.
Jordan and I discussed that with me going to this gym I am making a commitment to go at least 5 days a week, and also to meal plan, and prepare my days for success. We are expecting results.
We made the leap! We did a tour today and I honestly can't wait to get started!!!
I was so overwhelmed walking through the gym, envisioning myself and Adeline going there every day. I felt like I was in a trance as they talked to me, showed me things and asked questions. Then I left the gym, it sank in a bit and now I am really excited!!
I am scared. I am scared I won't lose weight. I am scared I won't go all the time. I am scared that Adeline won't like the daycare, so I won't be able to take her. I am scared of all the excuses I may come up with.
However, I am slowly removing all of my excuses for not losing weight. I got a gym membership, the gym has a daycare so I can bring adeline, it has weights, pool, classes, treadmills, all the keys to success, as far as the physical part goes.
I feel really good about this! I feel like this is what I need and I am excited to head to the gym and make it apart of my every day life! I am excited that I am taking action in reaching my goal of losing weight!
so here we are... in the comfort of our home... before the gym obsession begins.. :)

I cannot be perfect.
| Adeline snuggling on me when she was sick. |
I was on a great streak of counting calories, and I was seeing a difference on my scale and feeling great. Then some of my family came to town (dun dun dun). They fed us like king and queens, and out went my calorie counting, I kept telling myself I will get back to it on Sunday. Then Adeline and I got the flu, at the same time. Then it was "recovering" then I was just out of practice... and here I am 2 weeks later, just starting, but with a new outlook on it. You see I have this problem... I like to make HUGE goals which aren't realistic but I think they are realistic because in my head I can do everything and be perfect.
I am slowly learning, this is not true. I can't do it all. I cannot be perfect.
So I came up with smaller goals.
This week. I am eating 1800 calories and walking 1 mile a day.
That is it. That is all my goals are. I am not focusing on anything else. I hope this works.
Everyone always tells me to make smaller goals... and since my BIG goals are not getting me anywhere.. I suppose it is time to listen and try their way.
So here I am... I haven't gotten on the scale yet, and it was only day 2 of my small goals. But I feel hope, I feel excited about smaller goals, I feel like it is doable, and maintainable.
I feel like my body will adjust to eating 1800 calories and then I can lower it to 1600 calories and not shock my body so much. I think this will be easier mentally and physically. SO MAYBE JUST MAYBE I can stick to it and get my skinny self.

On Friday I weighed myself and lost 2 lbs! Since Tuesday! I was ecstatic! However, family came into town, and well I ate too much. I know I gained it all back, but I won't weigh myself until Tuesday to hopefully undo some damage...
I am still motivated, even after this bad weekend of over eating to lose weight. My goal is to lose 37 lbs for my 5th wedding anniversary! Wouldn't that be fun! :)
Tomorrow my plan is
Oatmeal & toast for breakfast
celery, carrot, potato soup for lunch
fish, rice and grean means for dinner
banana and strawberries and grapefruit for any snacks i need
Adeline just puked a few hours ago and then went to bed, but I am hoping she is feeling better tomorrow and we will have a fun day doing laundry, cleaning, eating healthy and doing photography and church work! :)
^ A girl can dream I will get all that done, right? :)

Gettin' my groove back
I drank 60 ounces of water today
I went over my calories by 450 calories! EEKS. It actually was my dinner. I had no idea tortillas were 210 calories a piece!! I thought maybe 110 a piece. DANG. NOT FAIR! So I really would have done SO MUCH BETTER IF IT WASN"T FOR THAT ACCIDENTAL 420 calorie overload. :)
Honestly, even though I have gone over the past two days I feel great! I totally want to eat more, and I am stopping myself. I am being aware of everything that is going in my mouth. I am making progress in becoming the woman, wife, mother I want to be!
Things are really coming together in my life. I have a babysitter for every Wednesday for a bible study, I am keeping up with laundry, my house is looking more and more put together and not a tornado zone. I am proud of myself! I am getting my groove back. INSERT HAPPY DANCE!
I will do this. I will be at least 57 lbs lighter. I am doing it. I am.
yay!

checking in...
Yesterday I wrote this post about living purposefully and getting back on track. Drinking water, and calorie counting.
I did really good all day. I measured everything out, I went out to eat, I got a salad and ordered banana and strawberries for desert. I got home and was dead tired at 7:30. I ended up falling asleep at 8 pm and at 9 Adeline woke me up because she lost her pacifier and I needed to go get it for her. I realize I am so tired because I am restricting my calories. I had eaten 1350 calories for the day. That was my goal. I was super happy with that.
However 9 pm, I was tired and bummed because I normally don't go to bed until 11:30. I ate a bowl of cereal, which turned into 2 bowls of cereal. HELLO 500 calories! Ugh. So now I have energy. At least I stayed up and did my bible study, but I ate 500 extra calories. I would have much preferred to just go to bed and lose weight! Darn weaknesses! Willpower where did you go!?
I drank 60 ounces of water today. I am happy with that.
Tomorrow is a new day and I am hoping I can keep my mouth closed and only consume the 1350 calories.
I know my body will adjust to eating that amount soon and I won't be so sleepy once it adjusts so I just need to get over the initial hurdle.
Side note: it is snowing here in Minnesnowta... I hope the roads are good tomorrow.

Living purposefully... weightloss edition.
![]() |
| This is when my daughter was a few weeks old, but I assure I weigh exactly the same. |
I just calculated how much weight I want to lose... Ideally I want to lose 77 lbs. AHHH WHAT?! REALLY?! I can't believe I am that far away from being away from my ideal weight! That is like... a lot.
So pretty much I would like to lose 57-77 lbs. Have i mentioned I cannot believe I let myself get so far away from my goal. I honestly don't know what happened.
I was happy with my weight mostly, I met my now husband and in that year I put on 25 lbs. I lost the 25 lbs for the wedding, then gained 40 lbs (while trying to conceive) and then gained 50 lbs while pregnant (yep on top of the 40) Then lost 30 lbs after having Adeline. So I still have 60 lbs to get me to my wedding weight. Which I think I looked great! ( I still would have liked to been less... but I still looked great!)
For 2014 I have a lot of ideas I want this year to be, but I am really wanting to live every day purposefully, and focus on order, getting my life in order, simplifying, etc. One of those things is my body, eating, schedule in order.
How am I going to accomplish my goal in 2014?
1. Drink 80-100 ounces of water a day.
2. Eat 1300-1500 calories a day.
I am trying to keep it simple.
I already feel overwhelmed just thinking about counting the calories. But purposeful living, purposeful eating...
I can do this! I will do this.
This time next year I will be
60 lbs lighter.
I can do it.
Do what I can, When I can. (thanks Roni for the saying!)

| By the end of this year, I will weigh a few pounds less than what I did in the photo! |

Maybe you have noticed?
II am not really loosing weight. It is totally my fault (well ok I am placing a little blame on my PCOS- but just a little.)
This week I made goals
80 oz of water a day
Walk 9 miles this week.
No buying junk food
These are small goals but I think these will help me achieve weight loss and not overwhelm me!

Wednesday weigh in
This post was for last week.. May 22nd. Lol. It never published! So looks like I lost .6 lbs from last week.
I am getting good at drinking water again (hallelujah!) I used to have no problem drinking 70 ounces. But I fell off that wagon and it was a struggle to get back on. It's slowly returning.
I notice a difference in my weight on weeks I walk. That is always encouraging. I hope to make my walks an every day routine, but I have an almost 5 month old and I watch my niece- a 4 month old. And I'm not smooth transitioning into things!
Every day I'm learning about how to run my day a little bit smoother! I have the girls morning routine down, unfortunately that pretty much leaves me no time for exercise or housework but the girls are happy and its not chaotic. So I can't complain.
I am ready to be thin though! Can you just unzip this fat suit! If only right!?
I am proud I only "gained" 20 lbs during pregnancy. I actually gained 48 but lost 28 within 9 days of post partum- so that doesn't count as true weight in my book.
I am working on a daily list to give myself to make sure I accomplish what I want each day. I thrive off lists and I love checking things off. I think that will help my gracefulness each day!
Alright we I'm going back to bed now that Adeline is done nursing
Wednesday weigh in
Posting my Wednesday weigh in on a Wednesday what's wrong with me! Haha! I'm all organized!
!Down .8! Ill take it!! Now if I can keep this streak up! Which I know I can, it's just doing it.
I was going through old photos- and I wanna lose weight I looked great! 40 lbs ago! But baby steps. Today I took a 2.25 mile walk. I'm working on 80 ounces of water for the day. I had pancakes for breakfast and popcorn for lunch.. So that's not the best- but I don't need perfection, improvement is really what I need! I'm working on making sure I'm hungry before I eat. I've always heard losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. So my main focus will be diet.
I am really trying hard not to go crazy and be realistic- because going all crazy doesn't work for me. So small baby steps, imperfections and pancakes and popcorn once in a while it is!

Wednesday weigh in
I am still not comfortable posting my weight on the World Wide Web. I'm not really sure why.. I mean will I lose friends from it? No. Will people judge me, doubtful. Yet I'm scared.. I wish I could be brave enough. Maybe someday that'll come.
For now..
Total weightloss: -3 lbs
This week: -1 lbs
I've lost roughly 30 lbs since my heaviest (pregnancy) I still have 18 lbs to lose to get to pre pregnancy weight, which I wasn't even happy with that weight! I have a long road ahead of me. But I know I can do it.
I walked once last week. And hoping to walk again this week! Hey.. I'm just getting into the swing of things. ;)

pregnancy weight gain so far..
I am going to start from the beginning... ish.
December 2008 I got engaged to the love of my life! I knew I wanted to marry him immediately. He was my dream guy. For realz. I was at my heaviest, and extremely insecure when he proposed. My clothes didn't fit, my fiance was thin and I was getting married! eeks!
December 2008- Aug 2009 I joined a gym, watched what I ate and lost 25 lbs, I was looking good, still had about 10 lbs to lose, but I was happy with my looks for my wedding day butI had dreams of losing 30 more lbs to be where I was when I was 15 years old ( I have since came to my senses)
After the wedding about 10-15 lbs came back on after several months (oops) and I started getting mad at myself and then started working on losing more weight again.
2010 we bought a house, and a couple months later, we decided we would start trying to have kids. I got off birth control and all of a sudden the weight was piling on, while I was trying to lose weight. I couldn't figure out what was going on, and the next month I didn't get my period, I had hopes I was pregnant... but the tests were negative, 3 months later with more weight piling on and still no period, I was starting to think something was wrong. 4 months with no period and significant weight gain I went to the doctor with a small (dreaded) suspicion I had PCOS (my sister was diagnosed with it a while back) and after a couple doctor visits I was diagnosed with PCOS too.
I started running, eating healthier, but still had hard time maintaining my weight, I was always gaining, I slowed it down quite a bit, but I swear if I let myself have a "free" day, I would gain 3 lbs and it would always stay and not go away!
2012
still off and on about trying to actively lose weight, and reaching my heaviest. I started P90X. I was loving it. 3 days later, I found out I was pregnant (one of the happiest days of my life) and that is the day I stopped P90X as well.
I was super worried about being overweight and pregnant, it caused me a lot of anxiety. I did so good for awhile, and then I just started gaining weight. I had a couple weeks where I gained 4 lbs! My midwife says not to worry about it as long as I am not over indulging, my body is going to do what it is going to do and the baby probably had big growth spurts those weeks.
I have struggled with the weight gain, but now I am finding peace with it. I am drinking my water daily, I am not too swollen, I have a little swelling in my feet and hands, but not very much. I have stretchmarks, regardless of how often I lotion.
But I want my baby to be healthy, and I don't want to malnurish my baby because I don't want to gain another ounce during this pregnancy. I am beautiful for who I am, and my body is beautiful and knows what it is doing. I have a beautiful baby bump. I have salads for lunch most days and eat healthy dinners. I try to always eat my protein.
I am AWFUL at walking, or doing any sort of exercise!! but I can't expect perfection, and I am just telling the truth. I suck at the exercise part. Which I do kick myself for...
it was really hard to reach my fattest and feel beautiful, but I know I am eating healthy,ahem- mostly, don't get me wrong, I still indulge once in a while, and maybe more than I should, but I am finding a balance between my struggle with my unhappiness with my weight and enjoying my pregnant body/self.
At 32 weeks I have accepted I have gained more than I want, I don't have anxiety about it anymore, and I know that I will keep making healthy eating choices, eat lots of protein, drink lots of water, and I know once that baby comes out I will not be this weight.
pregnancy weight gain was harder on me than I expected. I knew I would gain weight while I was pregnant, I mean DUH, but I took it hard. It was hard for me to watch, it was hard to accept, and it weighed on me. I never would have guessed in a million years that seeing the number on the scale go up while being pregnant would have been so hard to accept!
But I have done it! I have accepted it, and I know that I will change this number on the scale as soon as this baby comes out! :)
Oh and of course EVERYTHING we women go through during pregnancy is worth it times a million!!

Weekly weigh in 13
Weight loss this week: I'm not exactly sure how to count this week... because yesterday I would have lost 1 lbs this week, however I woke up this morning, and it said I gained two!!! I think it is just a flucuation. But I guess I will go with the +2 lbs, but just know next week, will probably -3 or -4 lbs!! :) Because of that flucuation.
Total weight loss: +1.4, I am not that sad, because like I said... yesterday showed a -1 lbs loss, which would have totalled -1.6 total. but I am being nice, and sticking to Monday weigh in only. ;)
Average: (13weeks in) +1.4
Exercise: I went on a few walks this week, they were short, but they still count! Yesterday I had a newborn photoshoot, and I definitely sweated! Still not taking the elevator at work. I really notice an attitude change in myself when I exercise, I walk taller, feel slimmer, I overall feel better about myself! I love it! of course, I am not really focusing on exercise, but I am definitely noticing how good I feel about these small slight changes.
Also- my husband bought P90X. I am thinking about doing it too, but I am really nervous to tell people! What if I start doing it, and then I stop because I am too overwhelmed with too much to do? I think I will write it in this section and that is where you can find my update on it! I will probably even do a day 1 picture, and continue to take pictures, if I continue to do it, every two weeks.
Juicing: I juiced once. UGH. I will juice 3-4 times next week. I will.
My pills: I didn't refill my pills so I was awful at taking them! And we are waiting for my prenatals to go on sale, so I am out of them too! Good thing my eggs are 3 months old so whatever I ovulate this month will be vitamin-ed up! :) (same thing as last week)
I am refilling my pills tonight though!
update on my cycle: No update since I got my period two weeks ago. I am however going to start charting my temps again. At least for a small amount of time.
Overall: I feel like next week is going to be an awesome week with weight loss, especially because i think the two pound gain is a fluke, and the day before it said I lost 1 lbs (which is more like it)

Total weight loss: -0.6
Average: (12weeks in) -0.6
Exercise: Not taking the elevator at work and sneaking in a few walks a couple times a week.
Juicing: I juiced twice. Working on upping my average to 3 times a week.
My pills: I didn't refill my pills so I was awful at taking them! And we are waiting for my prenatals to go on sale, so I am out of them too! Good thing my eggs are 3 months old so whatever I ovulate this month will be vitamin-ed up! :)
update on my cycle: No update since I got my period last week
Overall: I am really glad that i am losing weight! I feel like I found my groove, but I don't want to say it too early and gain my weight again! I want to really find my groove and lose weight every week! I am not even picky about how much I lose, as long as the scale is going down.

weekly weigh in 11
Weight loss this week: -1.6 YAY! I finally lost that 1.6 I gained!
Total weight loss: 0
Average: (11 weeks in) 0.
Exercise: I still haven't taken the elevator, and I have snuck a few one mile walks in. :)
Juicing: I juiced twice. That seems to be the average. I am working on getting it up to 3-4 times a week.
My pills: I did good again, I missed 2 days this week. but I still am happy with that.
update on my cycle: I got my period. That means no pregnancy for me. I really was hopeful this time, which is a little bit of a bummer, but I am fine. I accept that it didn't happen this time, and I know that it will eventually happen. I know the longer it takes us to get pregnant, we are really putting ourselves in a better financial position, which I know is great. I trust Heavenly Father, and knows when the best time is for my future family, but I am ready for that time. :)
Overall: I am super relieved that I lost that extra weight! It makes me happy! I was super busy editing the Easter mini sessions, so I haven't had a lot of time to think about weight loss or anything. but I am motivated going into next week with seeing the scale go down! I am hoping I can stay strong and find my groove and watch myself shrink! :)

For me!
I AM determined to make 2012 a rockin year for me!
I made my new years resolutions, you can see them here. And I really want to fulfill them to the best of my ability! Plus do some other stuff! So I thought I would check in, considering we are about to end the 1st quarter of the year
Continually grow and develop my relationship with Christ- I feel like I am doing a good job with that. I am continually plugging away at reading the bible, and have been finding ways to worship and praise Him, I have been spending a lot of time with him. I of course need more! And could be doing a lot more!
Grow an even stronger bond with my husband- We just completed a weekend marriage event called Love & Respect, and I absolutely LOVED it!! I learned a lot, and not only grew closer to my husband, I grew closer to Christ while taking that class. It was great! I highly highly highly recommend it! I actually want to sit down and really think and reflect on the packet! I feel like I can absorb so much more by going back and reading my notes and reading the packet. I of course, want to continue working on growing an even stronger bond with my husband! I love marriage and really think it is amazing! I can't even describe how thankful I am for my marriage! Seriously. Even though it is hard, and misunderstandings and disagreements happen..but seriously, I love having my husband there for me no matter what, always someone I can rely on, someone who most likely knows me better than I know myself.
Process and procedures and growing in my photography business- I did the Easter session, which I was extremely happy with the turn out!!! I hope the support for my business continues! I actually have a meeting with an awesome gal tonight to discuss our businesses! I have started processes and procedures for my business thanks to those awesome business meetings we have!
work on gaining more self confidence- on this weekly weigh in I talked about how I really felt like I needed to gain self confidence in order to lose weight. I continue to really feel this on my heart. It is a little slower process than I would like it to be! Why can't I just wake up one day and think I am beautiful and have the weight melt off me overnight! Of course, I think I am beatuiful but there is always that "but" in there. So it is a work in progress. And I am focusing on loving my body, just the way it is.
Eat healthier- I would say that I haven't worked on this yet this year. I have been trying, which has been failed attempts. This is still my goal, and I would like to accomplish this!
Get more organized- this definitely has not even been on my radar. I think about it a lot because I LOVE being organized. I feel like life has taken me in and I don't have a lot of time for "me" things, or when I do, I want to be lazy and watch TV, which only seems to happen once a week now. CRAZY HUH?! I think my goal for the rest of 2012 is do one organizing thing a month! I like that!

weekly weigh in week 10
weight loss this week: 0
Total weight loss: + 1.6
Average: (10 weeks in) 0.
Exercise: I quit taking the elevator at work, it isn't a lot, but I am on third floor. Plus the vending machines are on the lower level, I usually get a diet mountain dew down there, and on bad days some jalepeno cheetohs, but since I have decided to take the stairs I have managed to talk myself out of walking down and up 4 flights of stairs, just to get unhealthy things! :) That actually came as a surprise to me! On Saturday I also went on a 2 mile walk, that was nice! I have decided that I am not focusing on exercise just yet in my weight loss journey, more about that later in the post
Juicing: I juiced twice. But the 5 days I didn't juice I drank Naked juice, I know that isn't AS good for me (they heat it up to have a longer shelf life killing some good stuff) but still way better than nothing and its all natural! So yes, I wish I juiced more, and I am working on that for this week.
My pills: I took my pills 6 out of 7 days!! Go me!! :) Saturday was the only day I missed! And I thought about them, but I wasn't at my house.
update on my cycle: I haven't BBT charted (taking my morning temperature to determine where in my cycle I am) in a while, but I know I ovulated, my boobs are a hurtin'! Of course this always excites me! I am in the two week wait! Part of me feels really excited and think it really could be this month! But then part of me thinks, yes, Tara for a normal girl it could be this month, but you have issues, and you have to remember that. I know I am ovulating but the "two week wait" just seems so unreal for me! That I am actually in it! 17 months of trying, and I feel like I am in the final hours (so to speak) of waiting! I know my "final hours" could take 6 months, but seriously, what is 6 more months to 17 months! ya know? Or ok if it takes 17 more months at least I am halfway through it! I just feel like I have made it through a hurdle, and maybe that it is because I am feeling safe that I am actually going to be ovulating every month as long as I keep up with my juicing!
Overall: I am disappointed that I haven't lost any weight, and am actually up 1.6 lbs. I just have to find my groove and unfortunately 10 weeks in and I am still searching for it. I wish I could have just lost 1 lbs a week! That is 10 lbs I would have been down! but I know I can't think that way. I know thinking that way can just depress me, and then I would give up.
I am finding myself in this journey and what works for me and what doesn't. Doing all or nothing, clearly wasn't working for me. I know God is in me and I can do all things through Him. But I am thinking I need to build to that. I can't just change my lazy habbits over night (well I can.. but too hard for my lazy self!) If it was that easy nobody would struggle. Right? So what have I done? I revised again! :) I wasn't ever getting in my exercise, and I was feeling guilty about that. So I got to thinking, 80% of weight loss is diet, 20% is exercise. Why not try and get more hold on the 80% before I work on the 20%. I will work on exercise and I want to make that a part of my daily life eventually, but I am putting that on the back burner for right now. No more expecting myself to wake up at the butt crack of dawn (well in my case, before the butt crack of dawn) and I feel relieved. Here is what I am focusing on.
-no longer take the elevator at work
-drink 80 ounces of water a day
-take my pills every day
-no more than 600 calories at home (monday - Friday)
-no more than 900 calories at work (monday-Friday)
Obviously, I will keep changing and re arranging things until I find my groove, and I can lose weight! I have a goal of losing 10 lbs by May 1st, and would like to lose 3 more for my husbands birthday (May 23rd) 13 lbs down for his birthday would feel good!
I also have been thinking about something Joyce Meyer says.. not to ask yourself how you feel about things, but just do them!
