Cupcake dilemma

So I took some pictures for my friends daughters birthday, tons of fun! Taking the pictures and her family is great! But I am having a dilemma. I took this picture of a cupcake.. I like the way I edited but then I think it might have been too much. The bottom one is unedited.

What do you think? I like the edited one, I think it is really neat, but there is something about it that I am unsure of! I know that I will be checking my histograms for now on! I just learned about those from the internet today! I am excited to see if I can tell the difference between my pictures! I think I want a new lens that allows more aperture options though!

    I think there is lots that's great about the original, like that the cupcake is so in focus, but then it fades at the edges. I think one thing that may look nice is if the lighting was changed a little, at least the main cupcake then I think it would pop more. But really I don't have much of a clue as to what I am saying on this subject :)

    I love them both...but if I had to eat one of those cupcakes it would be the edited one.
